TRAVEL TIPS FOR THE SUMMER: If your life includes pets, then you know that making travel plans includes deciding whether to take them with you or leave them in the care of a sitter or boarding facility. Like many pet owners you'd like to take your best friend(s) with you but don't know to prepare for pet-friendly travel. Here's some tips to prepare to travel with them.
IDENTIFICATION TAGS are a MUST No matter which way you decide to travel, it is important to make sure your pet(s) have the proper identification on them at all times whether it's an ID tag on their collor or having them microchiped thru your vet, or having them tattooed with the National Dog Registry, if you do this method don't forget to register the number.
PETS and CARS Dogs and cats are quick and agile, and they will all those talents if they feel that their safety is at steak. If left loose in a moving car they will become startled and they will panic, looking for a safe spot.
Train them Young, First Aid Pet Kit, Food and Water Train your puppy to remain calm and focused on your commands when in the car and always remember to reward them. Never let your pets roam freely in the car, they too can be injured if the car makes a sudden stop. For their safety and your always crate them when in car. Fabric carriers are a good way, but a hard plastic is more safer. A pet travel kit should consist of a copy of their current medical records, gauze, bandages and hydrogen peroxide for vomiting if needed. Delays are always for sure when traveling so don't forget to take along plenty of extra food and water. A loud noise, unfamiliar stimuli, cat's loose in cars, irresistible urge to chase another animal or smell, all could lead to your pets jumping out of a half-open window. Keep your pet SAFE secure at all times to unsure their and your safety.
